CLOSS

Privacy Policy

LAST UPDATED OCTOBER 20, 2026

This version rewrites the policy for Closs, the social closet app that replaced the Alessio texting stylist. It covers profiles, closets, posts, messages, contact matching, and selling, and keeps the rules for the try-on, Gmail receipts, and earlier Alessio services that still apply. The camera recording and safety terms are unchanged from the September 18, 2026 version; this update does not reset that camera acknowledgment.

1. Who We Are

Closs ("Closs: The Social Closet") is run by Beautiqxx LLC, doing business as Alessio ("we," "us," or "our"). This policy covers the Closs iOS app, trycloss.com and tryalessio.com, the waitlist, and the earlier Alessio services described in Section 14 (together, the "Services").

Questions and requests go to hello@tryalessio.com. By using the Services you agree to the Terms of Service and this policy. Camera features ask for a separate acknowledgment before they open.

2. What We Collect

Account and sign-in

You sign in with Apple, with Google where offered, or with your email address and a six-digit code we email you. We store the email address you sign in with and the account identifier Apple or Google gives us. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we do not store the relay address Apple gives us. We do not receive your Apple or Google password. If Apple shares your name, the app sends it with your sign-in but our servers do not keep it; if you turn on contact matching before you have a profile, the app uses your first name as your display name, which you can change.

Sign-in codes expire after ten minutes and are stored only in hashed form. To stop abuse, we keep hashed copies of the email address and IP address that asked for a code, and a record of failed attempts, for a day, and a hashed record of networks you have signed in from for 90 days. A session cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days.

Birthday

We ask for your birthday when you sign up. If you are 13 or older we store your birth date and use it to place you in an age range. If you are under 13, we do not store the birth date, and we start deleting the account right away.

Profile

If you set up a profile, we store your handle, display name, profile photo, and your settings, including whether your profile is discoverable and whether people who have your number or email can find you.

Closet pieces

Your closet is stored on your phone. When you add a piece, it is shared to your profile unless you switch on Keep private, and you can change this for each piece later. For a shared piece, or one you list or tag in a post, we store its name, brand, style read (style and color tone), and its photo. If you later switch a shared piece to private, it is hidden from others, but we keep the stored copy until you delete your account.

When you are signed in, the app sends the photo, name, and brand of each new piece, shared or private, to us so we can read its style and colors (see Photos you ask us to read). For a private piece we do not store the photo or the result; the result is saved on your phone.

Selling list

When you list a piece, we store the price, currency, whether it is sold, and an optional link to where it is listed. Links are only accepted from marketplace sites we allow. Closs does not handle payment for listed pieces: Buy opens that link outside the app, and the sale happens on that site under its own privacy policy. We do not add affiliate tracking to these links.

Posts and outfits of the day

We store the photos, captions, tagged pieces, and the outfit breakdown that come with a post or outfit of the day. We also store follows, likes, saved posts, comments, your wishlist, reports, and blocks. If you delete an outfit of the day, it disappears for everyone and its tagged pieces are deleted. Its photo is removed from it right away and deleted from our storage within about a week. We keep its caption and breakdown, hidden, so it cannot be posted again by mistake, until you delete your account.

Messages

We store the messages you send in Closs, including text, photos, and pieces you share in a chat. We also store whether you have read a message, to count unread messages; it is not shown to the other person. Message text and photos are screened for safety before they are sent. Deleting a chat hides its messages for you only; the other person keeps their copy, and the chat comes back if a new message arrives.

Contacts (optional)

If you choose Find friends and allow Contacts access, the app turns on contact matching and reads the phone numbers and email addresses in your contacts (not names), cleans up their format, and turns each one into a SHA-256 hash on your phone. Only the hashes are sent. We compare them against the hashed numbers and emails of Closs users who have also turned on contact matching, return the matches, and store none of the hashes. Turning on contact matching also lets people who have your email or number find you; it is off by default and you can turn it off in Settings. To limit abuse, we keep a short log of each request: the time, how many hashes were sent, and keyed hashes of your own sign-in identifiers. That log is kept for 30 days.

Photos you ask us to read

When you add pieces, add clothes from photos, ask for a style read, or start an outfit of the day, the photo is sent to OpenAI to identify the clothing, brands, colors, and style. A style read can run before you have an account. Photos sent only for a read are not stored by us. For an outfit of the day, we also send the names, categories, and brands of pieces in your closet so the read can match them, keep the read for a day so a retry does not run twice, and keep a fingerprint (SHA-256) of the photo so the post matches the photo that was read.

Closet value (optional)

If you choose to show your closet value, the app works out the total from your receipts and sends us only that total, by currency. We never receive the receipts for this. Turning it off deletes the stored total.

Taste matching

We build a style profile from the pieces you show publicly and your live outfits of the day. If you imported receipts, we also build a private version that includes those purchases. Your private version is used only to find matches for you; it is never shown to anyone or used to score you for other people.

Shopping lookups

When you look for where a piece is sold or for similar items, we send a short text query, usually the brand and item name, to SerpAPI. We cache the results and download the product photos once from the retailer's public site. Your account details are not sent with the query.

Try-on

For a try-on, the app sends us a picture of the pieces you selected and their descriptions, and the camera runs live. See Section 7.

Purchases

The try-on membership is sold through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple handles payment. We receive and store the subscription status, product, transaction identifiers, renewal and expiry dates, and an account token that ties the purchase to your Closs account. We never receive your card details.

Notifications and devices

If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token, encrypted, and your notification settings. We send notifications through Apple Push Notification service. A message notification shows the sender's display name and up to 140 characters of the message, or "Sent a photo." Post notifications say that someone you follow shared a post. Your in-app notifications list also shows activity such as someone adding one of your pieces to their wishlist.

Usage, diagnostics, and security

Our servers log requests, errors, timing, and counts to run and secure the Services. Logs can include account identifiers and shopping search text. To enforce limits we use your IP address and account identifiers, held in short-lived memory. We do not ask for your location. See Section 11 for analytics.

Support

If you email us, we keep the email and our reply.

3. What Stays on Your Phone

Your closet, private pieces and their photos, outfits you save, receipt selections and evidence photos, and product photos saved from receipts stay on your phone. The live camera mirror that shows your reflection runs only on your phone; only the paid try-on in Section 7 sends camera video off your phone. Deleting the app deletes this on-device data. The app picks photos with Apple's photo picker and does not get access to your whole photo library.

4. Who Can See What

WhatWho can see it
Profile: handle, display name, photo, follower countsSigned-in Closs users, if your profile is discoverable. If it is not, only you; people already in a chat with you can keep messaging you.
Pieces you show and your selling listSigned-in Closs users who can see your profile. No follow needed.
Posts and outfits of the dayYour followers, if your profile is discoverable, and you.
CommentsPeople who can see the post.
LikesPeople who can see the post see the number of likes, not who liked it.
Who you follow and who follows youSigned-in Closs users, if your profile is discoverable.
Your wishlistYour wishlist page is only for you. When you wishlist a piece, its owner is told who added it, your followers can see it in their feed, and people who follow you can see you wishlisted it on the piece's page.
MessagesYou and the person you are messaging. Anyone signed in can start a chat with a discoverable profile.
Closet valueSigned-in users who can see your profile, only while you have it turned on.
Taste match scoreA person who views your profile sees how well your public pieces match their own taste. Your receipts are never used in what others see.
Found by phone number or emailOnly if you turn on contact matching, and only by people who also have it on.
Unshared closet pieces, receipts, Gmail results, birthday, email addressOnly you.

Signed-in users can search for discoverable profiles by handle or display name, but not by email or phone number. Blocking someone hides you from each other and removes follows both ways. A profile, post, comment, or message removed by moderation is hidden from everyone. We do not show Closs profiles or posts to people who are not signed in.

5. How We Use Information

Where the law asks for a legal basis, we rely on providing the Services you asked for, your consent (for example camera, contacts, notifications, Gmail, and optional analytics), our legitimate interest in running and protecting the Services, and legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing.

6. Gmail Receipts and Google Data

Your choice. Connecting Gmail is optional. You can skip it and add clothing from photos instead. Google asks for your permission. We receive your Google email address and an authorization credential, never your password. The permission Google grants is read-only mailbox access, which covers more than clothing receipts.

What we search. We search Gmail's purchases category for clothing terms, normally covering the current and previous calendar year. If the hosted Unipile connection is used instead, Google's permission screen names Unipile, and the search matches "receipt" or "order" over up to the last five years and can return unrelated messages. Scans run when you connect or ask for a refresh. We do not send, change, or delete your email, download attachments, or watch your inbox in the background.

What goes to OpenAI. We fetch matching messages, convert them to text, shorten them, and send the text with the sender, subject, and date to OpenAI to find clothing, shoes, and accessories and to write a style summary. This is not anonymized: the text can include names, addresses, order numbers, or other details in the email. OpenAI never gets your Google credential or access to your mailbox.

Product photos. We match product images in receipt emails to the items found. Only text and opaque image identifiers go to OpenAI for this; photo bytes and image URLs do not. We keep the image address from the email, fetch the photo from that host (the retailer or its email provider) when the app asks for it without keeping a copy, and the app saves selected photos on your phone.

What we keep. We keep your connection email and credential (or a Unipile connection identifier), plus the purchases we extracted: item descriptions, categories, brands, dates, prices, currencies, order references used to remove duplicates, product image addresses from the emails, style summaries, and scan status. These records are tied to your account. We process message bodies in memory and do not keep a copy of your inbox.

Limits. Gmail data and anything derived from it is not sold, not used for ads, and not used to train general-purpose models. OpenAI's API does not train on submitted data by default; OpenAI may keep submitted content for abuse monitoring, normally for up to 30 days. See OpenAI's API data controls. People at Closs look at Google data only with your explicit agreement for support, for security investigations, or where the law requires it.

Your controls. Remove Closs in your Google account connections to stop future access. That does not delete results already saved; account deletion or a request to hello@tryalessio.com does.

Closs's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs, including derived information, will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy and the Google Workspace user data and developer policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Those limits take precedence over anything broader in this policy or the Terms.

7. Try-On, Camera Recording, and Live Moderation

The try-on is part of the paid membership. Your phone asks for camera permission first; without it the try-on will not work. You also acknowledge the camera recording and safety notice before the camera opens.

The live camera feed and the photo of the pieces you picked are sent to Decart to render the clothes on you in real time. Camera surfaces use live automated moderation for sexual content, self-harm, and graphic violence, and a session can end automatically when this is detected or suspected. Frames used for this check are transient and are not archived as moderation frames.

Try-on sessions are recorded by default. There is no separate recording opt-out. If you do not want a session recorded, do not start one. We keep the recording of the rendered session, a result still, and a few small still frames of what you were wearing. Recordings are retained while the account remains active and until account deletion, subject to the exceptions in Section 13.

We use recordings for safety review, enforcing the Terms, investigating flagged sessions, fraud, security, disputes, and legal compliance. Closs does not currently use recordings, photos, or location for model training or fine-tuning, model evaluation, product improvement, marketing or content, or styling personalization beyond what you ask for. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for consent where the law requires it. We do not sell recordings or photos.

We do not use face recognition to identify you, match your face against a database, or create faceprints or voiceprints. Nothing in this policy reduces a right you have under biometric or health-data laws.

8. Safety, Moderation, and Reports

Before anything is shown to others, we check it. Handles, display names, profile photos, piece names and brands, piece and post photos, captions, comments, outfit-of-the-day photos and text, and messages are sent to OpenAI's moderation service, and clothing photos also get a check that they show clothing. If the check fails or the service is down, the content is not published. We keep a record of each check, without the content, for 30 days or until you delete your account.

You can report profiles, posts, comments, and messages, and block people. Reports go to a review queue. People we authorize review reported content, and can look at other content on Closs when needed to keep people safe, remove content, or restrict an account. Removed content is hidden from everyone but kept for review. Each moderation action is logged, and we keep that log and reports made about an account even after the account is deleted. Reports you made are deleted with your account. Automated checks can miss things or make mistakes; email hello@tryalessio.com for urgent concerns or appeals.

9. Service Providers

We share information with these providers only so they can do their job for us:

Shop links we find for you (Where it's from and similar items) may go through an affiliate link service so we can earn a commission if you buy. When you tap one, the affiliate service and the retailer can see that you came from Closs. We do not send them your account details.

We may also disclose information to follow the law or valid legal process, to protect people or rights, to investigate fraud or security problems, to enforce our terms, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets.

10. No Selling, No Ads

We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not show ads and do not use advertising trackers. We have not done either in the past twelve months. We do not give personal information to third parties for their own marketing.

11. Cookies, Analytics, and the Website

Session cookie. After you sign in, we set an essential first-party cookie that keeps you signed in. It is not used for analytics or ads.

App analytics. Optional usage analytics in the app is off by default. If it is turned on, it sends fixed screen and button names with a random visitor identifier to us and PostHog. It does not include your name, answers, receipts, photos, or credentials, and there is no session replay.

Website analytics. On our website, optional analytics starts when you click Join the waitlist, or choose to begin onboarding where a web onboarding page is offered. From then we may set a first-party visitor cookie for up to a year and record which pages and buttons you use, with your browser type and approximate country, and send them to PostHog. That choice covers analytics only and is not permission to record a mirror session. Global Privacy Control is treated as a no. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. See the Cookie Notice.

Waitlist. If you join the waitlist, we store your name and phone number to text you when your invite is ready. We do not use it for marketing. It is kept separately from your Closs account, so deleting your account does not remove it; email hello@tryalessio.com to be removed.

12. Retention

13. Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account in the Closs app under Settings. Deletion starts right away; there is no waiting period. It signs you out everywhere, revokes access, and deletes your profile, birth date, shared pieces and their photos, selling list, posts and outfits of the day, comments (including on other people's posts), likes, saved posts, follows, blocks, wishlist, taste profiles, closet value, notifications, notification settings and push tokens, Gmail connection and extracted purchases, try-on recordings and photos, and conversation memory. We try to revoke the Google credential or remove the hosted connection; you can also remove access in Google yourself. Your original Gmail messages are not touched. We email you when deletion is done.

Messages you sent stay in the other person's chat but are no longer linked to your account. Photos you sent in those chats stay with the message. A chat is deleted once neither person is left in it.

After deletion we keep a hash of each email address, phone number, and Apple or Google account that was on the account. This stops a deleted account from being signed back into, so you cannot create a new account with the same sign-in. We also keep reports made about the account and the moderation log, the contact matching log for up to 30 days, payment and purchase records (no longer linked to your name),and anything under a legal hold or required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, security, or disputes. We keep these only for those purposes. Providers may keep records where the law requires them to.

Storage cleanup can take a short time after you confirm. Account deletion does not cancel an Apple-billed subscription; cancel it in your Apple Account's subscription settings. Deletion does not create an automatic refund. Deleting your account does not delete anything stored on your phone; Settings has a separate option to clear the app's data on this device.

14. Earlier Alessio Services

Before Closs, Alessio was a stylist you texted over iMessage or SMS, with a web try-on mirror and a web membership. If you used those services, this section applies to the data they hold.

15. Children

Closs is not for anyone under 13. The app asks for your birthday at sign-up and refuses anyone under 13; their account is deleted and the birth date is not stored. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Contact hello@tryalessio.com if you believe that has happened.

16. Security and International Transfers

We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit, encrypted push tokens, encrypted Vault credentials, private storage, and access limited to the people and systems that need it. No system is completely secure.

We and our providers process information mainly in the United States and may process it in other countries. Where the law requires it for transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we use recognized transfer mechanisms.

17. Your Rights

You can see and change your profile, settings, and what you share in the app, and you can delete your account in the app.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access your personal information, correct it, delete it, get a copy, object to or restrict some uses, withdraw consent, and not be treated differently for using these rights. That includes rights under laws like the GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of there.

To make a request, email hello@tryalessio.com from the address on your account, or tell us how you sign in. We may confirm you control the account before acting. An authorized agent can make a request where the law allows, with proof. If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer. You can also complain to your local data protection authority or state attorney general.

The kinds of personal information we collect are: identifiers (email address, phone number if you join the waitlist or used the earlier texting service, account IDs, IP address); profile and content you post; messages; photos and try-on recordings; commercial information (membership status, purchases found in receipts you connect); birth date; contents of emails you let us read; internet activity (app use, diagnostics, optional analytics with approximate country); and inferences (style and taste profiles). We disclose these to the providers in Section 9 only for the purposes in this policy. We do not collect precise location or biometric identifiers.

18. Changes

We may update this policy. The new version will show a new "Last updated" date. We may also post a notice or send an email linking to it. We will ask for consent again where the law requires it. Camera features always ask you to acknowledge the current camera notice.

19. Contact
